O1 provisions trunks in each LATA directly to each end office with trunks overflowing to tandem offices. This allows O1 access to higher quality 64k clear data access lines resulting in faster connections with improved clarity. End office trunking allows much more flexibility to perform network upgrades and to monitor network performance based on true demands.

O1's advanced network design integrates Lucent hardware and software, and Acme Packet session border controllers (SBCs) with an SS7 network to create a data traffic bypass that routes ISP traffic away from the ILEC's central office switch and over to O1's dedicated digital network.

O1 provides world-class PSTN network connectivity using the softswitch performance capabilities of the Lucent LCS 5010. Its built-in CLASS/Custom calling features are available to TDM and IP subscribers. The Lucent Feature Server delivers advanced services to support a mix of legacy and VoIP applications concurrently. Features include scalability up to 100,000 subscribers, support for LNP, 800 calling, operator services, and CALEA. The 5010 supports a comprehensive set of Class 5 end office and tandem features and a suite of revenue-generating CLASS, custom, and next-generation services.
